Audition Requirements for Composition

Undergraduate Requirements
Admission to the Composition concentration requires the completion of a successful audition. The audition consists of two parts:
- Submission of a portfolio of compositions
- An audition on a primary performance medium
Portfolio
The basic information regarding portfolio submissions appears below; however, applicants are strongly encouraged to contact Dr. Per Bloland to communicate interest in the composition program prior to submitting an application.
- Portfolios should contain 2-4 recent examples of your best creative work. Scores of original compositions and arrangements may be included.
- For scores, the preferred format is PDF. Files made with Sibelius or any of the Finale family of software will be accepted as well. Files from other programs must be converted to PDF format.
- Recordings may also be submitted in addition to, or instead of scores, as appropriate. Preferred format for audio files is mp3, though AIFF and WAV will be accepted as well.
All portfolio material should be uploaded via the Department of Music application through Acceptd.
