Practicum Opportunities Spring 2024

Run Crew Positions

You must be able to commit to tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances of the show you want to run.

Technical Rehearsals
(all called except wardrobe and makeup)

Wednesday, March 6 through Friday, March 8, 6:30pm-11:30pm
Saturday, March 9, 12pm-4pm; 6:00pm-10:00 pm 

Dress Rehearsals
(all called)
Monday, March 11 and Tuesday, March 12 from 6:00-11:30pm

Performances
March 13, 14, 15, and 16 at 7:30pm
March 17 at 2pm 

Call times will be no more than 90 minutes prior to curtain

Photo Call: Will be held prior to the Saturday performance. This will add approx. 90 minutes to show day and is required.

Crew will also be required to attend a KCACTF response and strike that will be scheduled at a later date.

Monday and Tuesday April 29, 30; 6-11 p.m.

Performances: 
Wednesday-Saturday, May 1-4; 7:30 pm
Sunday, May 5, 2 pm 

Call times will be no more than 90 minutes prior to curtain

Strike: Strike will occur approx. 1 hour after the Sunday performance ends. 

There will be a KCACTF (Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival) response after one of the productions (TBD). 

Photo Call: Will be held prior to the Saturday performance. This will add approx. 90 minutes to show day and is required.

Daytime Shop Labs

Scenic Construction
Learn and practice skills in woodworking or metalworking, along with theatre-specific skills like rigging and set installation. Beginners are welcome.

• Hours are set based on your schedule, though you do need at least 2-hour blocks of time Mon-Fri between 8am -11am or 3pm-5pm 
• You may work many hours a week for a few weeks, or spread hours out over the semester.

Costume Construction
Learn and practice skills in sewing, crafting, and wardrobe organization

• Hours are set based on your schedule. You'll need at least 90-minute blocks of time Weds-Fri between 10am-1pm or 2pm -5pm
• You may work many hours a week for a few weeks, or spread hours out over the semester.

Electrics Crew
Help with the hang and focus of lights, install speakers, set up the theatre spaces for tech rehearsals.

• Work is done during the day, scheduled around your availability. Hours will be spread over the semester
• There may be some optional weekend calls
• Looking for up to 4 students

Props Construction
Learn and practice skills building props with hand tools, basic power saws, and miscellaneous materials. Beginners are welcome.

• Hours are set based on your schedule, though you do need at least 2-hour blocks of time Mon, Weds, or Friday between 2pm-5pm
• You may work many hours a week for a few weeks, or spread hours out over the semester.

Scene Painting
Lay out and paint scenery using a variety of techniques

• Hours are set based on your schedule, though you do need at least 2-hour blocks of time Tues or Thursdays between 10am-12pm or 2pm-4pm
• You may work many hours a week for a few weeks, or spread hours out over the semester.
