Elise Chevalier, Education Coordinator, joined the museum in February 2023. Elise contributes to the implementation and design of educational programs which center around inclusive exhibitions and diverse collections to impact and grow audiences of Miami University and members of the local community in and around Oxford, including adult, school, youth, and family audiences. Elise works closely with our digital media team in the development of digital content for educational purposes, such as short videos focused on our collections and exhibitions.
Elise has a wide range of experience in Art Education, research, and teaching, and practice as a visual artist. Elise has a BFA in Fine Arts (Visual Fine Arts major and History of Art minor) from the Fashion Institute of Technology, NY (2012) and a MA in Art Education from the University of Texas at Austin (2016). Most recently, Elise served as classroom teacher in elementary schools in Austin, Texas. She has experience in a range of instructional, educational, and research roles at art centers and museums in Austin, including the Dougherty Art Center and The Contemporary, and in New York, including the Guggenheim, MoMA, and Cooper-Hewitt.
Elise recently relocated to Oxford with her spouse, a Miami faculty member, and their adorable cat Pumpkin. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, hosting game nights, and going on road trips.
