This course will focus primarily on the lost-wax process of casting bronze, beginning with the initial wax form through burnout, casting, cleaning, and preparation for patina. Each student will be expected to contact Jim for wax and design approval prior to the workshop, then bring one finished wax for gating and investing on the first day of class. Everyone will execute at least two poured castings during the workshop.

Studio Fee

All workshops have a studio fee. Fees are collected at the end of the workshop and payable by check or credit card. MU no longer accepts cash.

About the Instructor

Jim Killy has an MFA from the University of Notre Dame, and is Professor of Art in Sculpture at Miami University. His work has been included in many regional, national and international exhibits, one and two person shows, and private collections.
