In the Spring of 2015 the College of Creative Arts formed its first external Advisory Board, comprised of both alumni and friends of the arts at Miami. This is an exciting step forward, as the CCA was the only academic division at Miami without such a body. The Board brings together professional artists, scholars, collectors, educators, business experts, and arts entrepreneurs from all over the nation to help the CCA as the division works to grow and develop initiatives under the Miami 2020 Strategic Plan. Members will serve between a 2 and 4 year term and will provide advocacy, expertise, and advice about how to expand the division's alumni/arts network, thus helping to strengthen existing programs and build new ones.

The inaugural advisory board meeting with members of the CCA Executive Committee took place over the weekend of May 7-9, 2015. A group comprised of 15 of the board members traveled across the country to come to the Oxford campus. Board members familiarized themselves with key programs and people in the CCA as they toured facilities, met with faculty, spoke with students, and attended performances.

Dean Liz Mullenix states, “We are excited to learn from this inspiring group of arts professionals. The expertise, advocacy, and networking insight that these committed friends and alumni can provide is what we need to take the College of Creative Arts to the next level to ensure quality arts education in the 21st century.”
