Graphic Design student focuses on Institute for Food

Senior Graphic Design major Claire Anderson completed her semester-long capstone project by focusing on the Miami University Institute for Food. In the project, A Platform of Perspective, Anderson highlights insights gathered through interviews with leaders and participants working on the interdisciplinary effort in the classroom and on the farm. Anderson developed the project as an independent study in connection with the Food Studies Workshop.

The installation, part of the BFA Graphic Design thesis exhibit, welcomes the user to engage at a distance and up-close in a dynamic visual collection of images and text. The display invites future collaboration and contribution of ideas and perspectives from within the Miami University and Oxford communities.

The project is inspired by multiple conversations. Lauren Wulker, Institute for Food farm manager, describes IF as “cooking, living, and learning in community and hopefully an institution that can empower not just people but the whole community.”

The Graphic Design BFA capstone projects are on display in the North Gallery of Hiestand Hall. A gallery closing event will take place on Friday, May 13, from 4:00-6:00 pm.
