Two Exhibitions by Todd Stuart in the Art Building Lobby

The Lobby Gallery in the Art Building at Miami University is home to two timely exhibitions by photographer and Miami University Associate Teaching Professor Todd Stuart through October 29. While the two shows are distinct in concept and theme, both explore how image juxtaposition creates meaning. The first show, Demand Change, includes images taken at the Women's March NYC in 2019 paired with the poetry of suffragette Alice Duer Miller. Stuart said he “wanted to both celebrate and illustrate the challenge women have had over the past one hundred years.” He also created a photo book last Spring from the 2019 March. Multiple Perspectives, a project he has been working on for some time, was a collection he particularly wanted to share with colleagues at Miami. The series looks at time, light, and moments that might be. Works in this show have been shown in Atlanta, Dayton, Cincinnati, and Johnson City, Texas.

When shown together, Demand Change/Multiple Perspectives offers viewers a powerful moment of reflection, and a reminder to consider the many viewpoints and journeys that make us who we are.

Todd Stuart is an artist, entrepreneur, and educator based in Ohio. He is an Associate Teaching Professor and the Director of Arts Management & Entrepreneurship at Miami University. Todd holds an MFA and an MBA from the University of South Carolina as well as a BA from the University of Florida. Stuart has exhibited at the A.
