Kurt Johnson earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and Computer Science in 1981 from Mid America Nazarene College in Olathe Kansas. He spent the next ten years working around the world designing and writing tracking systems for paper production.

Once back in the United States, Kurt managed his own computer consulting business since 1991 with projects around the United States and internationally. During this time, he has also led over thirty service trips to help underprivileged populations around the world, with many of them being computer science related. A highlight was the teaching of computer skills in Moscow, in Russian, after the Berlin wall went down.

Kurt began teaching as an adjunct instructor at Miami University in 2004, while completing his Master of Systems Analysis. He originally taught in Oxford and has continued most recently at the regional campuses of Hamilton and Middletown.

Kurt’s love of computers, and all programming along with service to others comes together in his Miami winter course (CIT399) providing computer services to the near homeless population in Manchester England.

Kurt is currently pursuing his PhD from Miami University exploring the educational history of technology and its role in the Holocaust.

Kurt is now an assistant lecturer for the Computer Science and Software Engineering Department.
