Catalog description:
An introduction to computer vision including sensors and image formation, camera geometry, signal processing, feature detection, tracking and motion estimation, scene understanding, image classification, segmentation, object detection, and deep learning.
Prerequisites:
CSE 274, and either MTH 231 or MTH 331
Learning Outcomes:
- Explain theoretical and practical aspects of computing with images.
- Explain geometric relationships between 2D images and the 3D world.
- Implement robust image matching and alignment.
- Implement image classification, object detection, and semantic segmentation solutions.
- Evaluate and compare computer vision solutions using appropriate criteria.
- Defend a claim based on experimental data using a formal writing approach. (Graduate students only)
