How long is the virtual ceremony?

Each ceremony is approximately 90 minutes. The middle 30 minutes is when speeches will be heard and the President will confer the degrees.

Will graduates' names be called individually?

Graduates’ names will not be called ‘out loud’ as we do in person and plan to do in September when they walk across the stage; however, graduate slides, that include a photo (if submitted timely), their name, degree(s) and honors will be available for all to view from our webpage. Visit the "Gallery of Graduates", found on the Commencement site, commencement weekend.

Does the graduate need a cap and gown for May’s Virtual Ceremony?

No. Graduates do not need their cap and gown for any element of the ceremony. There is no expectation that any photo submissions include this attire.

Caps, Gowns, and Honors Cords?

Caps & Gowns: Brick and Ivy Campus Store is currently fulfilling web orders. Please allow 5-7 business days for your order to be processed and shipped. We will not be doing Rush shipping at this time due to our large volume of orders.

Order Graduation Attire

University and Latin Honors Cords and Medallions: The University is mailing all University and Latin Honors Cords and Medallions to the graduates who have earned them, beginning the week of 4/27/2020. We know these are important representations of academic achievement and are working to get them to graduates as quickly as possible. We thank you for your patience.

When and where will diplomas be mailed?

Graduates must complete this form to ensure diplomas are mailed to the correct address. If a student has already completed this, they can still go in and complete the form again if they need to update or check their mailing address before their conferral date.

"Conferral date" refers to the date the university uses to award degrees each term. This May the conferral date (and therefore the date printed on the diploma) is May 16, 2020.

For August graduates, the date will be August 14, 2020. The conferral date is different for students that applied to graduate in May from those planning to graduate in August, December, and January.

Once the diploma mailing address has been submitted, the university will have the information needed to make sure the student’s diploma is mailed out to them 4-6 weeks after their conferral date.

Diploma covers?

We are working on a plan regarding diploma covers. As staff continue to work remotely, we will communicate what we know as decisions are made.
