Travel Cancellations and Reporting

University Sponsored or Supported Travel

Essential university-sponsored or supported business and research travel may resume June 1, 2021. We encourage all University travelers to get vaccinated before traveling.

University-sponsored or supported travel for faculty is limited to essential research/scholarship and strategic priority travel. Faculty may use their professional development or grant/sponsored program funds for necessary travel to support research/scholarship or for strategic priorities as identified by the Provost. All travel must conform to CDC Travel Guidelines – please note that CDC Guidance for travel may differ for those who are fully vaccinated. University-sponsored or supported travel for staff is limited to strategic priorities as identified by the divisional vice president and does not include conference travel.

Additional expectations regarding university-sponsored or supported employee travel may be provided prior to June 1, 2021.

Personal Travel

All Miami faculty, staff, and students are urged to closely evaluate the risks of all personal travel (domestic or international) and to limit personal travel plans to essential travel.

Those employees and students who do decide to travel internationally are required to report their travel to the University, before departure, at the following email address When reporting your personal travel please provide the following information:

  • Name
  • Travel Dates
  • Countries and Cities
  • Cities of U.S. departure and entry

For either personal travel or business essential travel approved in advance by the University, travelers should also:

Know the U.S. entry restrictions on specific travelers returning from certain international destinations.

Know the U.S. requires a negative COVID test no more than three days before their flight departs and to provide proof of the negative result or documentation of having recovered from COVID-19 to the airline before boarding the flight.

Be aware that all travelers returning from international locations will be required to self-isolate at home for 7 days prior to returning to any Miami University campus or participating in University activities.
