Purpose and Description

The Team-Based Learning (TBL) FLC will bring together faculty, staff, and graduate students who want to flip one of their current courses to TBL.  Participants will learn about TBL and then redesign one of their courses TBL-style throughout the FLC meetings. This FLC will foster members engagement with a new teaching pedagogy to have in their teaching toolkit. The FLC will also provide ample time for members to reflect upon their current teaching practices in relation to TBL and their goals and aspirations for student learning.

Activities

  • Members will attend FLC meetings once every 3 weeks.
  • Members will read and discuss books about TBL in order to identify and describe team-based learning and its component parts.
  • Members will design in-class applications activities.
  • Members will design readiness assurance processes.
  • Members will design TBL course learning objectives and TBL unit objectives.
  • Members will analyze and evaluate TBL materials that are created within the FLC.
