Leveraging Web Conference Sessions for Learning

Hopefully, you have had a chance to attend some of the great sessions offered by our colleagues across the world at OLC Accelerate. If not, be sure to take advantage of our institutional access as the array of tracks provides something on nearly every aspect of teaching and learning. Register for free.

Another opportunity you should not miss is our upcoming workshop on Leveraging Web Conference Sessions for Learning in your course. Using your synchronous meetings to their fullest potential is no easy feat. The session will be a chance to hear some of the innovative and pedagogically useful ways our learning designers and your fellow faculty members have utilized the technology’s various features to increase engagement and foster learning.

In addition to our session and presentations at the OLC event, here are some other great resources to inform your teaching practice. For a good discussion of using asynchronous meetings to inform your synchronous web conferences, be sure to see Dan Levy's article as it does a nice job of describing how this blended learning approach can create a symbiosis between your asynchronous and synchronous communication. Likewise, Zahir Latheef’s piece from Faculty Focus, "Synchronous Strategies for the 'New Normal'", addresses the many possibilities synchronous work provides and how he has "gained a new appreciation for the potential of creating meaningful connection virtually".

As always, feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. We look forward to seeing you in an upcoming session.
