Dr. Ronald Scott
V.P. for Institutional Diversity and Inclusion

Welcome to Miami University!

Working out of the Office of the President, I am charged with supporting Miami University's Mission StatementValues Statement, and Code of Love and Honor that affirm our goal of ensuring that each member of the Miami community has an opportunity to be involved and included in every aspect of the campus experience.

Miami's commitment to diversity and inclusive excellence is not only reflected in our values, mission, and organizational structure, it is part of our formal and informal curriculum. In order to achieve a deeper understanding of cultural differences, we strive to create and sustain a campus environment that supports learning, development, and engagement across and between members of the community.

Our commitment encourages us to attract and retain significant numbers of students, faculty, and staff from historically underrepresented groups as well as members of other groups that have faced significant barriers to higher education. Miami offers a wide variety of opportunities for students and faculty to explore diversity and inclusion in the context of courses, programs, and experiences across the academic units and in the social dimensions of the campus environment. Achieving inclusive excellence also requires the development of a psychological and behavioral culture that is supportive of all students, faculty, and staff.

I urge you to explore this website and consider a visit to all of our campuses, joining us in various programs, activities, and sporting events throughout the year. We also encourage you to share any ideas or best practices for improving diversity and inclusion with this office. Finally, we hope you will join us as we work to create a climate and culture that reflects our values, beliefs, and commitment to diversity and inclusion.

One Miami, Many Voices. Love and Honor.

Ronald B. Scott
