I am an Assistant Professor at Miami University and a former Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Future of Nursing Scholar. I believe nurses are key to improving the health of our communities and should be leaders in transforming our health care system. This belief guides my work with students, research, and in service to my community. My research focuses on the long-term effects of the opioid epidemic on children and families. My scholarship of teaching and learning focuses on using innovation to improve our preparation of students for professional practice. I also chair the OHRN Public Policy Committee to influence legislation pertaining to the nursing profession, health care, and health of Ohio residents.
