Ashley's Bio

Ashley received her B.A. in Political Science and International Relations from Samford University in 2006. She began focusing on the intersection of gender and violence while an undergraduate and made this the centerpiece of her research in graduate school at the University of Alabama, where she received her Ph.D. in Political Science in 2016. Her previous research and publications have focused on circumstances surrounding gendered violence, particularly in war settings or during peacekeeping operations. Ashley has conducted field research in Russia, as well as the Democratic Republic of Congo and has extensive experience conducting interviews and managing qualitative data. Through her research work she has developed a proficiency in analyzing large scale datasets, utilizing statistical software such as SPSS, Stata, and R. Ashley held the position of Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Miami University (Oxford, OH) from 2017 to 2022, and as of Summer 2022 is very excited to put her research skills to work as a Researcher and Statistician at the Discovery Center.
