Curriculum Vitae

Bio

Dr. Taliaferro Baszile holds a Ph.D.  from Louisiana State University.  Her research focuses on understanding curriculum as racial/gendered text with an emphasis on disrupting traditional modes of knowledge production, validation and representation. Her scholarship draws on curriculum theory, critical race theory, and Black feminist theory and seeks a fuller understanding rather than a simply a legitimate understanding of the dynamic relationship between race, gender and curriculum broadly conceived. Denise is also the Associate Dean of Diversity and Student Experience for the College of Education, Health, and Society.

Introductions in Refereed Journal

From 1999-2003, I was a section editor (review of cultural texts) for the Journal of Curriculum Theorizing which is the primary journal for reconceptualist curriculum theory. One of my responsibilities was to write an introduction to the article/s that would be presented in the “Reading Between the Lines” section. This opportunity to write freely was key to helping me develop a unique and recognizable voice in the field.
