Biography
Dr. Veronica R. Barrios is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Science and Social Work at Miami University (OH). Her primary scholarly work focuses on understanding and exposing the culture of nondisclosure of sexual violence. Dr. Barrios works with survivors of sexual violence and clinical practitioners to develop clinical tools that facilitate disclosure of sexual violence and elucidates family dynamics and socially mandated rules involved in silencing practices. Her secondary research area revolves around Latinx families and the educational experiences of Latinx students. She is also certified program evaluator who focuses on working with grassroots organizations. Dr. Barrios integrates theory, research, and practice to create scholarly work that can be used by communities.
