2024 requirement for a Master's degree to become a Registered Dietitian (RDN)

Upon graduation from the Didactic Program in Dietetics at Miami University, an individual may apply for an accredited dietetic internship. Admission to dietetic internships is extremely competitive. Each internship looks at grade point average, work experience and leadership qualities to determine who they will select. It is important to realize that not all students are accepted into a dietetic internship and that there is currently a shortage of available internship positions.

After successfully completing an accredited dietetic internship, you are eligible to sit for the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) Examination for Dietetics. A passing score is required for an individual to become a registered dietitian. Students will need to have a master's degree in order to take the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) credentialing exam to become a registered dietitian nutritionist after January 1, 2024. Combined Masters Degree and Dietetics Internship

The mission of the Miami University Dietetic Internship is to provide evidenced-based learning experiences in dietetics that will prepare graduates to be competent for practice as an entry-level dietitian nutritionist in a variety of healthcare and community environments. The program will focus on educating graduates to be capable practitioners dedicated to the service of others and to the profession.
