Interested in a Career in Medicine/Health?
We want to help you achieve your career goals and encourage success in your preparation for medical/health schools. Along the way you can expect challenges, including rigorous coursework and time management. Your interests may change over the years based on coursework, independent studies, and experiential learning. We encourage you to meet with your major academic advisor and specific medical or health care advisor for assistance in planning your course schedule.
After consideration of advice from different sources, it is up to you to choose a major, course selection, and career path suitable to your learning style, interests, and likelihood for success. The best time to take required courses (e.g. Chemistry, Physics) for your major and post-graduate school is when you are ready and best prepared. Keep in mind that should you choose to wait a year or more to take College Chemistry, your timeline to complete all Chemistry requirements for Medical School admission will differ from students who take it in their first year. Successful admission to many post graduate medical and health professional schools depends on good grades in required courses, research experiences from independent studies, and clinical observations and internships.
