Special Notes

  • Applications for admission to four-year education licensure programs may need to be completed by early January.
  • Please check with your receiving institution for GPA requirements (content GPA and overall GPA). Most institutions have a target of 3.0, with a minimum of 2.75. Some institutions may require minimum GPAs within the focus content areas.
  • To be eligible to be accepted into a licensure program, students are required to have background checks. Criteria for acceptance use the guidelines established by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE). See Standards for Licensure and Employment of Individuals with Criminal Convictions.
    • A conviction may be eligible for rehabilitation (See Part II of the link above)
    • Some convictions are not eligible for a teaching license (See Part I of the link above)
  • Receiving Institutions may have additional admission requirements including content testing (e.g. ACT, Praxis I) and disposition assessment. Please verify what is needed.

Due to content and education coursework, completion may take more than four semesters.
