Student Handbook Masters and Dietetics Internship Program

Apples in a glass

This handbook does not replace the Miami University Student Handbook.  The purpose of this handbook is to give Dietetic Internship Students information about resources available to the students.  It is important to visit with your academic advisor often to receive the answers to questions about your degree.

This handbook was developed to serve as a guide and resource for students planning on completing the Combined Masters/Dietetic Internship at Miami University. This document should be considered as a companion to the Miami University Student Handbook and the Miami University Policy and Information Manual (MUPIM).

The information, policies, and procedures included in this document are meant to be helpful and supportive. Students are expected to review and follow the policies in MUPIM regarding university-wide student conduct. This handbook is revised annually and each new edition fully replaces previously published versions. The most recent version of the handbook is also posted on the Canvas Organizational site for Dietetics Interns. Access to the Canvas site content is granted once a student is accepted into the Miami University Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Health (Concentration: Exercise Health) Graduate Program and Dietetic Internship. A hard copy of this handbook is kept in the Dietetic Internship Program Director’s office.

All students are encouraged to review the policies and procedures relating to the Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Health Department including grade policies, example curriculum plans, requirements, student resources, faculty information, and program costs.

This handbook includes the Miami University dietetic internship mission, goals and objectives as submitted to the Candidacy Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetic (ACEND), as a part of the candidacy for candidacy requirements. Candidacy requirements are listed on the ACEND website at www.eatright.org/ACEND. A copy of the Self-Study candidacy document is kept in the Dietetic Internship Program Director’s office.
