International Resources

We understand that choosing a graduate program, especially for international students, is a big decision. We are eager to answer any questions that you may have about our program, connect you to student resources that support success, and share additional program-related activities that help build our cohesive international community of students studying abroad.

International Students & Scholars Services

Miami University offers many resources for the more than 2,300 international graduate students from over 80 countries that attend Miami. The Office of International Students & Scholars Services (ISSS) provides guidance to admitted students. Highly trained advisers help students with immigration regulations and procedures, visa matters, health insurance, and academic and personal counseling.

ISSS also connects students with additional services and campus resources, as well as conducts a new student orientation program. Orientation is designed to help new Miami students learn more about academic life, registering for courses, becoming acquainted with campus and community resources, and also meeting other new international and domestic students at Miami University!

Cultural Group Activities

In addition to academic experiences, our students participate in a variety of cultural experiences too. Groups of students visit large cities like Columbus, Ohio, Chicago, Illinois, and Washington, D.C. These trips allow student to experience American institutions and practices, as well as interact with local students and educators. Students also engage in many fun, recreational activities too.

Student Organizations

Miami University offers over 600 student clubs and organizations. The following student organizations are just a few examples of international related student organizations on campus:

Aerial Campus Tour

The weather in Oxford averages 24°C during June to August, 1.1°C during December to February. Oxford is only about 35 miles north of Cincinnati, Ohio—meaning you can catch a professional baseball game, visit museums with world-class exhibits, go to concerts, shows, boutiques and mega-marts.

The Butler County Regional Transit Authority (BCRTA) provides transportation around campus and to Oxford stores and apartment complexes. BCRTA also provides airport shuttles to the nearest major airports in Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio – both an hour from campus. There are also taxi services and free ride-share options too.
