- Has COVID affected your every day work life? If so, how? Yes! From a work life standpoint, we moved to a completely remote working model, and continue to be remote for the near future. From a project standpoint, I’m a supply chain data scientist, so the toilet paper crisis and the lack of supply is still a very real part of my cost models across the world.
- What are some ways this new way of life has benefited the way you look at your daily work operations? I actually love working remote - since my role is a global one, it makes it much easier to balance early morning meetings with Europe and late meetings with Asia while still having time in my day for family.
- Has doing more virtual meetings, etc, shown to be more beneficial to how you can be productive in your daily activities? I think it is a lot of habit change and learning to be productive in a different way and different routine. For me I find it more beneficial and I’m able to focus more clearly, but I definitely think there is still a lost element from no physical communication.
- Once COVID has slowed down do you think this will affect your future way of continuing to do your work? I hope to continue working remote for a large portion of the time. I like the flexibility to shape my day to make global communication easier.
- Has having an Eco degree benefited you during this time? I think Econ has helped shape the way I approach problems and models in general. There’s not a specific area I think having an Eco degree has benefitted me more during COVID, but the volatility of the market and understanding effects is something I attribute back to the Econ way of thinking!
