Brewing Industry Field Study

The Brewing Industry Field Study is a winter term program designed for Supply Chain & Operations Management students.  Students take MGT 490, a special topics course, that introduces them to the processes and relationships involved with the rapidly evolving U.S. brewing industry.  The program visits over 40 breweries, hop farms, yeast labs, packaging and equipment manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and industry groups on a cross-country tour of industry hot spots in Ohio, Colorado, and North Carolina.

Client-Based Projects

Student project teams work directly with corporate professionals in the supply chain and operations field.  The goal of these assignments is for students to apply Supply Chain and Operations Management concepts learned during their academic career at Miami to the real-world challenges and opportunities faced by their client companies.

Case Competitions

Students have multiple opportunities to participate in company-hosted case competitions.  These are invaluable learning experiences as the students can apply what they have learned across a variety of courses.  For example, students compete in the General Motors-Wayne State competition and Miami hosts the Terillium Case competition.
