#WeAreTheChangeMiami Movement

Given the current momentum for addressing, understanding, and combatting the injustices of today including, but not limited to, systemic racism, police brutality, identity denial, and more, it is imperative now, more than ever, that Miami students be the change needed to foster the better world of tomorrow. It was this very truth that gave way to the #WeAreTheChangeMiami Movement. FSB #WeAreTheChangeMiami Movement aims to: (i) provide Black individuals, fellow underrepresented minorities, their respective allies, and more, opportunities to be recognized, valued, and (ii) develop the necessary skills and insight to contribute to the ongoing struggle against the injustices towards the Black community and other minority communities.

At its core, the Movement seeks to be and instill change through fellowship, the provision of resources and opportunities, and the continual pursuit of excellence through a series waves and action items each rooted in a particular impact and problem. If involvement in this Movement interests you, please view the #WeAreTheChangeMiami Infographic below for more information on how to get involved.

WAVES OF ACTION The #WeAreTheChangeMiami Movement is composed of three distinct waves, each wave seeking to drive a particular impact, highlighting specific aspects of the dilemmas present on campus, and opportunities for holistic development. These waves are further outlined below: WAVE 1 CALL TO ACTION Utilizes digital trends rooted in storytelling, personal experience, and interconnecting passions and interests to educate viewers on essential subjects to instill action-oriented mindsets and provide individuals a platform to share their truth. In addition, efforts will be made to give voice and attention to minority-owned businesses and organizations, and recognize the work many are doing to be the much needed change today. WAVE 2 DOCUMENTING HISTORY Utilizes the creation of permanent records of student voices, experiences, and work to provide administration and display to the student body via recorded discussions and presentations, as well as activism through artistic expression. WAVE 3 ESTABLISHING GENERATIONAL POLICIES In conjunction with organizations and individuals who seek to get involved, policies, incidents, and key issues will be distributed for thorough analysis and review, and student-led efforts will be made to establish implementation plans rooted in research, business applications, and above all, strong ethical understanding and connections.
