The Farmer School of Business study abroad programs are open to students of all majors at Miami who meet the prerequisites.

ISA 205, ISA 235, 2.60 GPA by August 2016, and 45 earned hours by December 2016. Students also must meet the FSB Disciplinary Policy Standards (see policy).  Please note that priority will be given to business majors for this program.  Students must be at least 18 years old by the program departure date.  24 students will be enrolled in this program.

Fall Semester Expectations: 

During fall semester there will be pre-departure meetings that require mandatory attendance. These meetings will address some course work as well as travel and cultural preparation.

Courses Offered:

ISA 399:   Data Management and Visualization    (3 credit hours)

Prerequisite:  ISA 235

On completion of the course,  the student will be able to do the following:
1. Design and implement a relational database.
2. Extract information using SQL from database systems
3. Prepare information from database and other information sources for analysis
4. Perform charts and reports using Tableau  - a Visual Analytics tools.
5. Present the information visually and summarized to executive.

This course would also support the following FSB outcome:
The graduates of our programs will be able to convert data (both quantitative and qualitative) into information and information into knowledge.

MGT 302:   Intro to Operations & Supply Chain Management    (3 credit hours)

Prerequisite:  ISA 205

taught by Dr. Peter Salzarulo

Identification, understanding, analysis, application, and measurement of basic issues encountered in the creation of goods and services for a given firm as well as the strategic and tactical relationships between firms that participate in an effective supply chain. Problems examined through use of cases, lectures, discussions, and computer-based approaches such as simulation, spreadsheets, and problem-solving software.
