Program Details

What are the details of the program? The program is broken into (3) components; foundation week, preparation, and execution hands-on learning. Designed in a way that will provide the qualifications for the job you want while providing the business acumen relevant to the business world.

What can you do with a master’s degree in business? Master’s in Management can help prepare you for managerial positions in just about any field. Examples include but are not limited to: operations, project management, human resources, public relations, advertising/marketing, or talent acquisition positions.

Who should apply? Non-business majors with little or no work experience who want to gain specialized business skills so they are prepared to launch their career with confidence.

Will there be opportunities to network with professionals in fields of interest? Absolutely! In fact, we will pair you with an individual from the business community who will serve as a mentor to you while the program. Your mentor will share tips on interviewing and resume building, knowledge about transitioning from college into the workforce, what it’s like working for different types of organizations, and other valuable, relevant information.

Are there any prerequisites that I need to take prior to beginning the program? No, we will provide the core competencies needed to succeed in the program during foundation week. This will allow you to get started sooner and finish on time!

Is it possible to earn a Certificate in Business Management? Yes. Students will earn a certificate if they complete Foundation week plus any 12 credit hours from the Business Core. Credit hours can be completed in the fall semester. Alternatively, a student may select 12 credit hours from courses in fall and winter semesters to earn the certificate.

Admissions Detail

How big is the program? Our program is selective, enrolling approximately 25-30 students. This allows us to keep our class sizes small to enhance faculty-student and student-student interaction and provide students with the best learning experience possible.

Do applicants need recommendations? Two letters of recommendation are required for all applicants not applying for the combined program. Please be sure to contact your intended references prior to requesting online letters. Some people prefer to complete paper recommendations, and some may be unwilling or unable to complete a recommendation for you.

When are applications due? The priority deadline for admission applications is April 15, 2020. Following that date applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the program is full.

When are admission decisions made? Complete applications will be reviewed as they are received.  Students will receive an admission decision 2-4 weeks following the submission of their application.

If I email you my profile (GMAT, GPA, TOEFL, etc.) can you evaluate my chances of admission? Like many top graduate business programs in the U.S., we will review all parts of your application before making a decision.  Unfortunately we are not able to evaluate your profile before a complete application is submitted.

Where should I submit my MSiM application? You should apply online at the Miami Graduate School’s website. Applicants will be required to upload their transcript (unofficial), resume, letters of recommendation, and statement of purpose at the time of application.  Letters of recommendation should be uploaded through your Graduate School application, but may also be sent directly to msim@miamioh.edu.

Do you require an entrance examination? Entrance examination GMAT and GRE scores are optional; however, we do recommend submitting a strong Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) or the new Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score.

How much does the program cost? The program costs $995/credit hour or $29,850 for the entire 30-credit hour program.

Will I be considered for financial assistance? Miami's MSiM program does not offer scholarship or assistantship opportunities. Opportunities for external funding can be found on the Graduate School website.

Can you apply if you have a business undergraduate degree? No, the program is designed specifically for non-business majors (business minors may apply) who want to excel in today’s marketplace.
