Departmental Notes:

  • A 2.0 GPA is required in all ECO courses to graduate.
  • At least 9 hours of upper-level ECO coursework must be taken at Miami (including ECO 315 and ECO 317). 
  • The major requires 15 hours of ECO Electives, at least 6 of those hours must be in courses that require ECO 315 or 317 as a pre-requisite (known as ECO Adv Electives and numbered 410 or above).
  • ECO Adv Electives include the following: ECO 411, 414, 416, 417, 418, 419, 420C, 420G, 423, 427, 441, 442, 451, 462, 465, and 468.
  • ECO 405 may satisfy the Business Capstone and ECO Elective requirement.
  • It is strongly advised that students do not take ECO 315 and 317 in the same semester.

General Requirements:

  • All students must earn 128 hours to graduate; minimum of 64 hours of non-business coursework required.
  • A 2.0 GPA overall and 2.0 GPA in business are required to graduate.
  • FSB students must select a thematic sequence outside the School of Business (ISA 2 is the only exception to this rule). You must declare your thematic sequence; contact sponsoring department to do so.
  • Pre-requisite information available in the Miami Bulletin.
  • Diversity courses may meet GMP Intercultural Perspectives.
  • Most FSB students satisfy GMP Experiential Learning with an internship; students must register for ECO 340 to complete this requirement.
