Faculty Notifications

The Dean of Students Office does not excuse student absences from class. However, they can verify absences and will notify faculty in cases where a student is hospitalized or experiences a death in the immediate family (grandparent, parent or sibling). More >>

Professional Dress Grant

The Career Center provides monetary funding of up to $350 to selected students to purchase professional clothing for upcoming interviews, job searches, internships, or leadership opportunities. More >>

Rinella Learning Center

Academic Coaching- Academic Coaching is a conversational process between a student and an academic coach that reinforces student behavior leading to effective performance. Academic coaching involves regular one-to-one meetings between the coach and the student. Meetings will help students to navigate the University system, develop and monitor progress toward appropriate goals, and make conscious and informed decisions about their education. In addition, coaches can help students develop effective organizational skills, learning strategies, and personal management techniques.

Disability Services- The Miller Center for Student Disability Services (SDS) coordinates accommodations, auxiliary aids, support services and resources for over 1500 students on Miami's Oxford and Regional campuses. SDS supports Miami’s commitment to diversity & inclusion and promotes student access to an equitable college experience. Services are coordinated in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended and Section 504 of the Vocational Rehabilitation Act. The office serves a diverse group of students including those with physical, vision, hearing, psychiatric, medical, neurological, autism spectrum, ADHD, learning disabilities and cognitive disabilities. 

Supplemental Instruction- Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an additional layer of academic support for students in specific sections of targeted courses on the Oxford campus. SI offers students a chance to review concepts and content from their classes outside of normal class time. SI sessions take place in a classroom setting, and have trained peer Supplemental Instruction Leaders who have achieved a grade of at least B in the course. SI Leaders also attend some sessions of the course they work in and work with the faculty member in the course in order to provide students with review materials that are most meaningful.

Tutoring- Tutoring provides students with individualized, one-on-one tutoring or group tutoring in a number of content areas. Tutors are trained and certified peers who have achieved a grade of at least "B" in the course and who have met other minimum GPA standards. Tutoring is free of charge and available to all Oxford campus students.

Scholarships

Scholarships are a type of Gift Aid that are typically based on merit, such as academic excellence, talent, affiliation with various groups, career aspirations, or a combination of merit and need. To receive scholarships awarded by Miami University, students must enroll full time. More >>

Student Counseling Service

The Student Counseling Service provides individual and group counseling, workshops and programs, consultation, drug/alcohol use treatment, ADHD screening and treatment, and psychiatric services. The goal of these interventions is to assist students in developing and maintaining healthy personal, emotional, and psychological functioning as they set and attempt to achieve academic goals. 

Student Health Services

The Student Health Service is the primary resource for medical care for Miami University students. Our services include illness and injury care, gynecology, men's sexual health, immunizations, laboratory and pharmacy. Our goal is to provide both medical care and education that supports a healthy college experience.
