Instructions for Transfer Courses Already Completed

Domestic transfer courses are defined as courses taken in the United States. Students can verify equivalencies on www.transferology.com:

1. Visit the website www.transferology.com (formerly www.transfer.org or u.select) and create a free account.
2. Select "Will My Courses Transfer"
3. Enter the name of the school where you have taken a course.
4. Select the term and year.
5. Enter the department name of the course.
6. Click the plus sign (+) to add the course. It will appear on the right.
7. Click on the "Search for Matches" button.
8. Select Miami University from the list.
9. Your equivalencies will display in the match tab. If the course ends in T**, it is not a Miami equivalent. If Miami University does not appear in the list of schools, the course has not been evaluated before.
10. You should send completed transcripts to transfercrediteval@miamioh.edu

If a course does not appear on www.transferology.com or if the course is already listed as T** on the DAR, students may have the course evaluated to determine a Miami equivalent. See the "How to get a Transfer Course Evaluated" section below.

Instructions for Current Miami Students Planning to Take a Course Elsewhere

Domestic transfer courses are defined as courses taken in the United States. Students can verify equivalencies on www.transferology.com:

1. Visit the website www.transferology.com (formerly www.transfer.org or u.select) and create a free account.
2. Select "Find a Replacement Course"
3. Enter Miami University for School You Currently Attend
4. Enter the department name of the course.
5. Click the plus sign (+) to add the course. It will appear on the right.
6. Click on the "Search for Matches" button.
7. Select the school where you plan to take the course. If you are not sure, you can search schools that offer equivalent courses and you can filter the results by distance, state, price, etc. 
8. Your equivalencies will display in the match tab. If the course ends in T**, it is not a Miami equivalent. If "No matches found for" appears in the results, no equivalent course is offered.

If a course does not appear on www.transferology.com or if the course is already listed as T** on the DAR, students may have the course evaluated to determine a Miami equivalent. See the "How to get a Transfer Course Evaluated" section below.

Study Abroad

Study abroad courses taken on Miami Co-Sponsored Programs and courses taken by direct enrollment at AACSB-/EQUIS-accredited business schools are eligible for business course equivalency pre-approval. Study abroad courses taken on any other program may be reviewed after completion, but there is a risk that the course will not be approved as an equivalent. For summer and winter terms, FSB International Programs are recommended for business courses.

International Transfer

International transfer courses are courses that are taken outside of the US, either before enrolling at Miami University, or in a student’s home country during summer and winter terms. Courses taken directly at an AACSB-/EQUIS-accredited business school are eligible for equivalency pre-approval. All other international transfer business courses will be reviewed after completion, but there is a risk that the course will not be approved as an equivalent. 

Students attempting to transfer international coursework completed in China must provide the Registrar's Office with the following information:

• The course syllabus and examples of the work produced.
• Direct information from the university with dates of enrollment, course meeting dates and times, instructor of record, and his/her contact information.
• Courses are evaluated by the Center for Student Services and Development, Ministry of Education, P.R. China (CSSD). CSSD will verify whether or not the course was taken at an accredited institution and whether it is a valid transcript. CSSD only authorizes fall and spring courses. 

How to get a Transfer Course Evaluated

The online FSB Petition to Validate Transfer Credit Form is used to determine a Miami equivalent for a course that will be taken or has been taken at another U.S. college/university and is not an equivalent on www.transferology.com, international transfer credit that is not study abroad (e.g. international student taking coursework in his/her home country), and study abroad courses.

This form should only be used to determine equivalent business courses; non-business courses should be reviewed by the respective departments using the process outlined on the One Stop website. Courses submitted via the FSB Petition to Validate Transfer Credit Form will be evaluated by the chief departmental advisor or designee within 7-10 business days. Students will be notified of the outcome via email.
