Discover Outdoor Leadership in New Zealand

European Perspectives on Support for Children, Families, and Communities

Explore New Zealand's South Island. Picture yourself paddling your sea kayak through seal colonies off Abel Tasman, and backpacking through beautiful forests and mountains! This course will provide you with an opportunity to challenge and expand your traditional views of leadership and education.

Immerse yourself in the day-to-day lives of diverse families and communities in Luxembourg, one of the most culturally and linguistically diverse countries in the EU. Learn about building community partnerships through service learning in agencies that serve children and their families. The course will culminate with a study tour to Munich, Germany.

Health in The Gambia

Life at Altitude

Visit a variety of health related organizations, including the US Embassy, Peace Corps, Hospitals (large and small), Gambia Museum, World Health Organization, St. John’s School for the Deaf, among others and observe first hand about individual and public health in a developing country. The class will also visit local markets and experience the day to day life experiences of many Gambians.

Students will trek in the mountains in the Himalayas and learn about life at altitude by experiencing the local diet, traveling with local Sherpa, learning about their religion, and way of life. Weather permitting, we will see several of the world's 8000+ meter peaks including Mt Everest. We will also visit and tour the cities of Kathmandu and Pokhara.
