Exchange Admission

If you have been nominated to attend Miami University as an exchange student, congratulations! We look forward to working with you on the application process and hope to welcome you to our beautiful campus in Oxford, Ohio, soon.

Please follow the instructions below carefully to complete the Exchange Student Admission process.

ISEP Exchange

Have this document ready:

  • A copy of the biographical page of your passport
  1. After you have been nominated by ISEP, watch for an email from Miami University’s inbound exchange coordinator with instructions for completing the application. Do not start the process until you have received this email.
  2. Follow instructions in the email to login to InterLink, Miami’s system of online services for international students.
  3. Complete the Exchange Student Application, uploading the biographical page of your passport. The exchange coordinator will also refer to your application materials in the ISEP portal.
  4. If your application meets Miami’s admission criteria, you will receive an email from the exchange coordinator offering you admission. Your application status in the ISEP portal will be updated to “Admitted.”
  5. Following instructions in that email:
    1. Apply for on-campus housing and confirm your offer of admission in InterLink.
    2. Confirm your placement in the ISEP portal.
  6. ISEP will create your DS-2019 document and mail it to you. The Miami ISSS office will email you your admission letter.
  7. Upon receipt of the DS-2019, pay the I-901 SEVIS fee and schedule your visa appointment.
  8. Prior to your arrival, you will work with an academic advisor in your field of study to pre-register for courses.
  9. Check your Miami email regularly for information about arrival and orientation, and let us know if you have questions!

Kansai Gaidai 2-Year Transfer Exchange

Have these documents ready:

  • An unofficial transcript
  • Evidence of English language proficiency or written proof of English language proficiency from a professor or academic staff member at your institution.
  • A copy of the biographical page of your passport
  • Evidence of funding to cover the estimated costs of attendance.
  1. After you have been nominated by your institution, watch for an email from the Miami International Admissions Office with instructions on completing the international transfer application.
  2. Complete the application. Kansai Gaidai transfer students do not pay the application fee and may submit written proof of English language proficiency from a professor or academic staff member at your institution.
  3. After you have applied, watch for an email from Miami containing a link to your personalized Applicant Status Page.
  4. Use this status page to monitor your application checklist and to confirm that Miami has received all materials necessary for your application. When your admission decision is released, check your status page for a digital copy of your admission decision letter.
  5. Once admitted, watch for instructions on applying for housing and confirming your admission. Kansai Gaidai students are required to live on campus.
  6. ISSS will then send you a separate application form to create your immigration document. Please follow instructions in the email from ISSS and be prepared to upload the biographical page of your passport and your evidence of funding.
  7. The ISSS exchange coordinator will create your DS-2019 document and mail it to you along with your admission letter.
  8. Upon receipt of the DS-2019, pay the I-901 SEVIS fee and schedule your visa appointment.
  9. You will register for courses along with other international transfer students. For admission in Fall, that will take place via video advising appointment in late July. For admission in Spring, that will take place on campus in January.

Luxembourg Non-Degree and Kansai Gaidai Non-Degree

Have these documents ready:

  1. After you have been nominated by your home institution, watch for an email from the Miami University’s inbound exchange coordinator with instructions for completing the application. Do not start the process until you have received this email.
  2. Follow instructions in the email to login to InterLink, Miami’s system of online services for international students.
  3. Complete the Exchange Student Application, uploading the required documents listed above.
  4. If your application meets Miami’s admission criteria, you will receive an email from the exchange coordinator offering you admission.
  5. Following instructions in that email:
    1. Apply for on-campus housing (Kansai Gaidai students are required to live on campus) and
    2. Confirm your offer of admission in InterLink
  6. The exchange coordinator will create your DS-2019 document and mail it to you along with your admission letter.
  7. Upon receipt of the DS-2019, pay the I-901 SEVIS fee and schedule your visa appointment.
  8. Prior to your arrival, you will work with an academic advisor in your major to pre-register for courses.
  9. Check your Miami email regularly for information about arrival and orientation, and let us know if you have questions!

All Other Exchanges

Have these documents ready:

  2. Follow instructions in the email to login to InterLink, Miami’s system of online services for international students.
  3. Complete the Exchange Student Application, uploading the required documents listed above.
  4. If your application meets Miami’s admission criteria, you will receive an email from the exchange coordinator offering you admission.
  5. Following instructions in that email:
    1. Apply for on-campus housing (if you are living on campus) and
    2. Confirm your offer of admission in InterLink.
  6. The exchange coordinator will create your DS-2019 document and mail it to you along with your admission letter.
  7. Upon receipt of the DS-2019, pay the I-901 SEVIS fee and schedule your visa appointment.
  8. Prior to your arrival, you will work with an academic advisor in your field of study to pre-register for courses.
  9. Check your Miami email regularly for information about arrival and orientation, and let us know if you have questions!

Important Deadlines

Because visa document issuance and visa applications take time, it is important to apply for admission as early as possible.

  • If you have been nominated for the fall semester, please complete your application by October 1.
  • If you have been nominated for the spring semester, please complete your application by April 1.
