Global Initiatives and the office of Study Abroad and Away held the annual Faculty Director Appreciation Reception and John E. Dolibois Faculty Award for Innovation in Global Programming presentation on Monday, November 13.

The John E. Dolibois Faculty Award for Innovation in Global Programming recognizes a Miami University faculty member whose leadership of an academic program abroad or away demonstrates innovation, commits to increasing intercultural competency among Miami University students, and contributes to the global objectives of Miami 2020.

James Shiveley, Charles and Frances Condit Endowed Professor in the Department of Teacher Education, was selected as the 2017 recipient from among 21 faculty nominees and presented the award from Executive Vice President and Provost Phyllis Callahan. Shiveley is director of two current study abroad programs, Comparing U.S. and European School Systems and Community Engagement in Mexico, and will launch a third, World War I on the Western Front, in summer 2018. As the award recipient, he will receive $1500 in professional development funds and name recognition on a plaque in MacMillan Hall.

This reception was the first event in the week-long celebration of International Education Week at Miami.
