4 STEM Programs Abroad This Winter

Miami University offers a variety of education abroad opportunities. Here are some winter programs meant for students who have an interest in the STEM fields. Many programs are open to students of all majors.
Flora of the Bahamas
Location: Andros Island, Bahamas
Gain unique field experience within the environmental diversity of the Bahamas, from pine forests to mangrove swamps. Students will be introduced to flora much different than that of the central United States.
Radars and MATLAB in Puerto Rico
Location: Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico
Gain hands-on experience while conducting research at the site of the world’s most powerful radar and second-largest radio telescope—Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico.
Tropical Ecosystems of Costa Rica
Locations in Costa Rica: Various
Investigate the astonishing diversity of tropical ecosystems through field experiences in tropical rainforests, coral reefs, sea turtle nesting sites, the Arenal Volcano, and indigenous communities.
New Zealand: Adventures in Geology
Locations in New Zealand: Various
Experience the culture and natural world of New Zealand through immersive field experiences studying unique ecosystems, geology, and their impact on the cultures of the island.
