About the Safe Return to Campus

Miami University’s Healthy Together Plan is in preparation for fall semester. The Healthy Together Plan consists of information, policies, and guidelines that center around the collective health as a community and Miami’s tradition of delivering high-quality educational experiences for the fall semester during this COVID-19 era.

The Healthy Together Plan, created through countless hours of work by faculty, staff, and students, is flexible enough to respond to the changing landscape of the pandemic.

Miami’s Safe Return to Campus Planning and Coordinating Committee, under the leadership of co-chairs Dana Cox and Gwen Fears, coordinated the information to develop this plan. The plan was created with our own expertise on our campuses, TriHealth as our partner in student health, the Butler County Health District our partner in public health, the City of Oxford, our collaborations through the Inter-University Council (all 14 public institutions in higher education in Ohio), and the Ohio Department of Health. We will continue to collaborate.

We are relying on the guidance and directives of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Governor Mike DeWine, and the Ohio Department of Health as we make these important decisions. All of Ohio’s public universities are working together to develop safety guidelines for the return to our campuses.

Please refer to Miami University's COVID-19 Policy for additional guidelines and information.

Plans to Return to Campus

Some of the key components of the Healthy Together Plan include:

  • Information on academics for the fall semester, which begins Monday, Aug. 17. Our faculty will deliver meaningful courses in a variety of formats that enable students to make progress toward graduation and give opportunities for deep and engaged learning.
  • Guidelines for your role and responsibility in maintaining a healthy community. All Miami University faculty, staff, students, and visitors are required to wear a face covering-indoors and outside-at all times, with very limited exceptions.
