Phased Return to Work

Some employees have already returned to campus to work and many departments are using staggered work schedules when appropriate.

At this time, we are anticipating returning to full face-to-face instruction and on-campus work perhaps as early as this summer but no later than the Fall 2021 semester.

Our campus and our work environments are now different and include:

  • According to CDC guidelines, fully vaccinated people can resume activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance. View our face-covering guidelines.
  • Engaging in regular handwashing and hand sanitizing
  • Limiting use of some buildings and spaces (breakrooms and meeting rooms)
  • Meeting remotely when possible
  • Staggering work schedules
  • Requiring scheduled appointments and new protective procedures for “walk-in” or “unscheduled visitors”
  • Frequently disinfecting personal workspaces (e.g., laptops, phones, and desks)
  • Restricting hosting of minors and other visitors on campus
  • Closing non-essential spaces
  • Limiting non-essential activities
  • Placing barriers in some spaces to ensure physical distancing (e.g. reception desks)

For those employees who believe they are not able to return to campus to work or who need additional assistance to return to campus due to a serious underlying health condition, the university will work with them to provide reasonable accommodations.
