The Howe Center for Writing Excellence would like to remind the Miami University community that nominations for the Roger & Joyce Howe Award for Excellence in Disciplinary Writing Instruction are open.

The award honors individuals and teams of faculty who have made significant efforts to innovate writing instruction within the contexts of their disciplines. By innovating writing instruction in this way, faculty can provide their students with more opportunities to write and excel within their fields of study.

The HCWE offers two awards each year: one for individual faculty and one for a team of faculty (2-5 members). Priority is given to faculty who focus on how writing is taught and learned not just across courses, but also across time throughout their department and program. Other faculty who would make prime candidates for these awards include those who have innovated in key courses within their department or program.

These awards are made possible by the generous support of Roger and Joyce Howe, class of 1957. The Howes have donated over $15 million to support writing and writing instruction at Miami University.

Nominations are due by January 31, 2023, so if you know an individual or a faculty team who would make fine recipients of these awards, be sure to submit their names before the deadline.
