Graduate Writing Hours Return with New Programming for Spring 2023 Term

One of the Howe Center for Writing Excellence’s guiding principles is that writing is social and rhetorical. Writers benefit greatly from collaborating and sharing their work with each other, a process which graduate students can take full advantage of through the HCWE’s new Howe Writing with Community Support programming.

Howe Writing with Community Support takes the concept of graduate writing hours and expands it further to create an interactive and community-driven writing support experience. In addition to the tried-and-true graduate writing hours programming, the Howe Writing Center will also offer asynchronous writing support through a shared progress log, a writing blog curated by HWC graduate consultants, a collaborative calendar to share goals, and prizes to be won as the challenge progresses.

The Howe Writing with Community Support program for the Spring 2023 term will begin with a kick-off get-together on Wednesday, February 8th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Graduate students can RSVP for the kick-off gathering using this form.

Starting one week later, on February 15th, Graduate Writing Hours will be held on Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m, both in-person and online, in King Library 133. You can RSVP for the event by filling out this form.

If you have a writing goal for this year, then participating in the Howe Writing Center’s Howe Writing with Community Support program is a great way to jumpstart your progress toward that goal.

Faculty Writing Hours will also make a return this spring semester; be sure to keep an eye out for more information in the next couple of weeks.
