Payroll Deductions

Payroll deductions are amounts withheld from your paycheck every pay period by Miami. Deductions may be mandatory or voluntary and made pre-tax or post-tax.

University Charges

All benefit-eligible faculty and staff may sign up for payroll deduction and have charging privileges on campus.

Benefit Deductions

On your pay stub, you may also see deductions for charitable giving, computer loans, university charges, union dues, and various voluntary benefits. Some deductions are required and others are voluntary. Knowing the difference and why these deductions exist will explain why your salary is not the same as what you are paid.

Review the benefit deductions that may be taken before and after federal taxes.

Miami is required to withhold federal, state, and local, and Medicare taxes. Our tax information includes all taxation forms you are required to submit and how to make changes to these forms.

Login Security

To reduce the potential of security breaches and theft when using your Miami UniqueID and password to log in to certain Miami services or applications, you are required to use Two-Factor Authentication.
