IT Profile: Priya Kodeboina

by Elizabeth Jenike, IT Services

For this month’s profile, we caught up with Priya Kodeboina, an application software developer III.

Priya is a proud member of the Sharks development team, often leading the charge on coding web applications and performing integrations with vendor systems. She supports mission critical human resources, payroll, and finance applications at Miami -- essentially, she helps keep the wheels on the bus around here!

Priya has a real passion for problem solving, which led to her pursuing a career in software development. She graduated in 2013 from Vignan University in India with a major in information technology and a minor in business management.

Then, she did something that not everyone chooses to -- she went back to school! Priya got her master’s degree in computer science from Southern Arkansas University, and after that she worked in the health care IT field before coming to Miami in May of 2017.

One of her favorite things about her job here in IT is the diversity of the people she interacts with on a daily basis.

“Miami IT is very diverse and has the best work environment,” she said. “I enjoy the work I do here. People here are very helpful and kind. I can proudly say that I am a product of the Sharks team.”

One of the positive aspects of working from home over the past several months is that we have the opportunity to tend to our homes more than maybe we normally would. Priya is taking advantage of this opportunity. She already loved to cook, but this year she branched out into gardening to bring home-grown vegetables into her meal planning.

“Cooking is my favorite hobby,” she said. “I started cooking for myself when I was away from my family while pursuing my master's degree. In that process I discovered that I could cook delicious food and got pretty good at it. I also found that I enjoyed seeing others enjoying my culinary skills. Recently, during this summer, I’ve discovered my passion for gardening and harvesting. I’ve harvested a few fruits and vegetables this summer.”

Her love of nature isn’t relegated to her back yard, either -- she also has a goal of eventually visiting all the national parks in the U.S. Good luck with your goals of gardening and nature, Priya!
