Google Updates: September edition

Like clockwork, here are the latest updates from Google in our Education domain:

Google Calendar: Now with work location!

If you’ve opened your Google Calendar in the past week, you may have noticed some changes that will make hybrid schedule management an easier experience.

When you log in to your calendar, you can now choose to indicate where you’re working: at home or at the office. You can even add a weekly routine and update it on the go as your plans change. This way, when someone views your calendar to schedule a meeting with you, they will be able to see where you’re working and add a conference room or web conferencing link accordingly.

These updates are automatic and have already been applied in the Miami domain. Give them a try and see if you like it!

New search features

Google has also recently enabled advanced search features that will make it easier to search your email inbox for that one message you know your supervisor sent you last year. There are now drop-down lists with more options that will help you apply additional filters (such as who a message is from, what the subject is, etc.). This is available now for all users, so read more on Google's site and check it out!

Reminder: Google Sites

Google is changing some things in the background of their Sites interface. By September 30, 2021, you will need to convert your Google Site to the new Sites interface by the end of September. In case you haven’t looked at a calendar in a while (and you should, with all these updates to explore!), September 30 is next week. After that time, no one will be able to view your content on the old sites, so make sure to migrate it!
