by Dylan Connors, IT Services

The Information Security Office here at Miami University includes many dedicated employees, ensuring that our campus is safe. Whether it is monitoring cybersecurity threats, implementing security measures, or answering emails in regards to suspicious activity, they manage to handle it all. In honor of October being National Cyber Security Awareness Month, we would like to take the time to honor the newest ISO team member, Uzoma Ifeakanwa!Feminine presenting person holding a baby and smiling at the camera.

As an Information Security Analyst, Uzoma’s main job is maintaining information security here at Miami. She will work to protect sensitive information at the University, monitoring unauthorized activities and securing everything that matters to us.

“As a new team member my tasks are currently learning about all areas of the information security space so I can become an SME [Subject Matter Expert] to some or all the areas,” she said.

Uzoma shows dedication to learning all the ins and outs of our campus’s data in order to best ensure our security. She has already shown some amazing work!

Uzoma has a bachelor’s degree in business information management technology and a master’s in cybersecurity and information assurance from Western Governors University. A cool fun fact is she also has earned a Bachelor’s in animal science from Nigeria!

Before coming to work with us, she was an Associate Test Engineer, doing functional and End to End testing for data cloud integration and migration.

But most importantly, she spends time with her two-year-old son who she “completely adores.” Her past includes amazing endeavors such as once cross breeding different species of goats from multiple African regions, producing beautiful hybrid goats!

We are so grateful to have Uzoma on the ISO team, and we know she’s going to be a wonderful addition. Thanks for helping to keep Miami’s technology safe, Uzoma!
