Notice: Important information regarding Miami Wi-Fi updates

The Wi-Fi network will be updated from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. This involves updating the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate.

We do this before Fall Orientation every year to avoid new students having to accept network certificates twice (once when they come to campus for Orientation and again when they move in).

Here is some technical info for those curious: SSL certificates are used to establish an encrypted connection between a browser or user's computer and a server or website. The SSL connection protects sensitive data from being intercepted by non-authorized parties.

Following the update, users may experience one or several of these things:

  • Users may be asked to re-authenticate to MU-WIRELESS and eduroam on their various devices;
  • Users may be asked to accept a certificate at radius.miamioh.edu when connecting to MU-WIRELESS;
  • and some users may also have to “forget” the networks and re-add them. For instructions on how to do this, please visit the article in the IT Services Knowledge Base: Unable to connect after 5/21/2024.
