Ready for action: Miami’s new and expanded multi-use recreation fields now open

New pickleball, tennis, and basketball courts will open by Sept. 3; dog park by Oct. 1

Miami University’s new and expanded multi-use recreation fields at Millett South Lawn and at the Chestnut Recreation Fields are now open for students. 

Miami invested about $13 million in the summer project to expand and upgrade the fields at the north and south ends of campus.  

More amenities for students in the Millett South Lawn area will open soon: New pickleball, tennis, and basketball courts are scheduled to open Sept. 3; a dog park, an area with exercise equipment, and walking paths will open around Oct. 1. 

Chestnut Recreation Fields 

Featuring multi-use synthetic turf fields with sports lighting that support:

  • Two full-sized soccer fields
  • Two softball fields
  • Three flag football fields
  • Rugby, lacrosse, and Ultimate Frisbee fields 
  • Concrete walks and a plaza with benches and a drinking fountain

  • Open now: Synthetic turf multi-use intramural soccer and flag football fields 
  • Opening soon: Pickle ball, tennis, and basketball courts 
  • Open by Oct. 1: Dog park, outdoor workout space, and walking trails
