Vote Friday for alumna's class to win a Fab Lab
Brookville Intermediate School in Brookville, Ohio, is one of 20 schools nationwide in the semifinals to win a $100,000 grant for a new STEM lab. Teacher and alumna Katie Henry (Miami '10. M.Ed. '15) leads the effort with assistance from Jerry Gannod, Miami professor of computer science and software engineering.

Louise Morman, executive director of the Lockheed Martin Leadership Institute in Miami University's College of Engineering and Computing, has been named to the inaugural class of the A. Barry Rand (ABR) Fellows Program.

In memoriam: Joseph W. Phillips
Joseph W. Phillips, 72, former director of the Gardner-Harvey Library at Miami University Middletown, died Sunday, Nov. 8, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, where he resided. Phillips retired from Miami in 2005.

Great American Smokeout Nov. 19: "Cold Turkey" sandwiches offered
Encouragement to quit using tobacco comes in the way of "cold turkey" sandwiches and free gifts at the Phi Delt Gates of Slant Walk 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19. The American Cancer Society sets the third Thursday of November for the annual Great American Smokeout.

Pierced cable conduit caused Internet outage Nov. 11
Wednesday morning (Nov.11) work crews began cutting a large section of sidewalk outside Tappan Hall as part of the on-going construction on US 27. At approximately 7:20 a.m., the equipment pierced a cabling conduit located under the sidewalk.
