How Do I Request Permission to Take Excess Hours?
Undergraduate students needing to take more than the permitted hours in a semester/term should contact their Divisional Advising office for permission. The Divisional Office will notify the Office of the University Registrar to increase the number of hours once open registration begins in a semester/term. Undergraduate students may take up to 20 hours during the fall or spring semesters, 16 during Summer Term, and 6 hours during Winter Term without excess hours permission.
Graduate students need to contact the Graduate School to petition to take excess hours. Graduate students may take up to 18 hours during the fall or spring semester, 15 hours during Summer Term, and 6 hours during Winter Term without excess hours permission.
