Military-Affiliated Group (MAG)

The Military-Affiliated Group (MAG) is a committee of faculty and staff across all of Miami University’s campuses. First convened during the summer of 2015, it provides support for military-affiliated students and has a strong affiliation with the three Student Veterans of America chapters.

Examples of initiatives MAG has led include the creation of Heroes Day programming, the development of an experiential credit waiver for those who have served overseas, and the coordination of Green Zone Training. MAG also presents graduating student veterans and military-affiliated students with a military honor cord and challenge coin in an official ceremony.

MAG can also assist with the following:

  • contact information for staff regarding
    • academic advising
    • admission
    • advocacy
    • applying VA education benefits
    • billing
    • general questions
    • pre-deployment
    • registration and transferring credit
  • counseling and crisis information
  • social support offices
  • federal or state legislation that may impact military-affiliated students
