Online-Asynchronous

Format:

Courses are delivered fully online, with no required physical attendance on campus or virtual meetings.**

Instruction:

Students access the online component of the course via Canvas, and participate in activities and assignments that allow them to meet the course learning objectives by interacting online with the faculty member, their classmates and the course content.

How can I tell if a course is online-asynchronous?

An online-asynchronous course will be noted as ONLA* in the "delivery" column of the course list.

Online-Synchronous

Format:

Courses are delivered fully online, with required live virtual meetings.**

Instruction:

Students access the online component of the course via Canvas, and participate in live activities and assignments that allow them to meet the course learning objectives by interacting online with the faculty member, their classmates and the course content.

How can I tell if a course is online-synchronous?

Hybrid-Asynchronous

Instruction:

Faculty lead the in-person class meetings as they normally would in assigned classrooms. Students access the course via Canvas, and participate in activities and assignments that allow them to meet the course learning objectives by interacting online with the faculty member, their classmates, and the course content.

How can I tell if a course is hybrid-asynchronous?

A hybrid-asynchronous course will be noted as HYBA* in the "delivery" column of the course list.

Hybrid-Synchronous

Format:

Courses are delivered with a mix of components including required campus, virtual meetings and online course work/activities.

Interactive Video#

#Offered via Online-Synchronous or Hybrid-Synchronous delivery methods.

Format:

Courses are delivered and broadcast live from a classroom at MUR to approved program sites.  Students attend either in person at MUR or in person at approved program sites. Campus and/or virtual meetings are required.

Instruction:

Faculty lead the meetings as they normally would and students participate from campus or from another approved program site where they have access to a computer and the internet.

How can I tell if a course is interactive video?

An interactive video course will be noted as IVDL in the "delivery" column of the course list.

Face-to-Face Instruction

Format:

Students attend in-person classes on regularly scheduled days and times.

Instruction:

Faculty lead lectures, labs, studios and discussion classes as they normally would in assigned classrooms.

How can I tell if a course is face-to-face?

A face-to-face course has no code; it will not be labeled in the course list as online, hybrid or interactive video distance learning. The course will have a room assignment and specific meeting days and times.

** Some ONLA/HYBA courses require one or more live virtual meetings.  If a virtual live virtual meeting is required, dates/times will be specified in the "Special Notes" section in the course details
