John McCandless

John McCandless is starting his 31st year in law enforcement and currently serves as the Chief of Police for Miami University. He has been for 11 years. Prior to that he served with the Michigan State University Police, the City of East Lansing Police and the Midland (Michigan) County Sheriff’s Department. He has also done work for the American University in Cairo, Egypt, as a consultant. He earned his undergraduate degree from Ferris State University and his Master’s degree from Western Michigan University. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy (Class 208) and has several hundred hours of in-service training related to law enforcement.
